My name is Joanne and my husband Mitch are the breeders behind Lil’ Smokies Dach-Tail Weenies in San Antonio, Florida. At Lil’ Smokies Dach-Tail Weenies, we’re passionate about breeding Miniature Dachshunds. But first, let’s explain our name: A Lil’ Smokie is one of those delightful cocktail hotdogs you might find as an appetizer at a party. Hence, the name!
Our dogs are not just pets; they’re family. We specialize in breeding Miniature Dachshunds, some of which come from Champion lines. Feel free to explore our Facebook page and website for more pictures and videos.
Meet Our Team
Joanne: I’m retired so that I can dedicate all my time to our little fur babies.
Mitch: My husband works full-time to support our Miniature Dachshund habit.
Our Mission
Our goal is simple: We want to breed wonderful Miniature Dachshunds who are loved, healthy, and sound. Here’s how we achieve that:
Selective Breeding: All our Dachshunds have been hand-selected for our breeding program. We test for color, conformation, and health.
Upholding Standards: We are committed to maintaining the Miniature Dachshund standards.
Expert Guidance: We’ve teamed up with JD’s Weiner-Wonderland, a mentor with impeccable knowledge of genetics, color, and conformation. She’s been researching miniature Dachshund standards for over 7 years and has been breeding since 2019.
Our Approach & Practices
Home Environment: Our AKC and CKC girls live in a beautiful home (no kennels) with plenty of room to thrive. Ensuring our dogs receive personalized care and attention
Family Environment & Socialization: From birth, our puppies are handled, played with, and acclimated to sounds. They’re well-socialized and pre-spoiled. Giving them a loving and family environment.
Yard Access: They have access to a fenced-in yard which is covered in artificial turf that is disinfected weekly. They learn to use a doggie door.
Basic Training: We start teaching basic manners, their names, and potty training early.
Health Certification: All our girls are Embark tested and will be OFA certified at the appropriate age.
Sleeping in Crates: We introduce our puppies to sleeping in crates with their siblings and individually during naps and will feed them separately in their crates.
